Commercial EICR Testing & Certificate

Electrical installations don’t last forever – without regular inspections on your cables, switches, sockets, and other electrical equipment, you’re increasing the risk of electrical shock and electrical fires.

As an employer, it’s your legal responsibility to carry out checks on all your appliances to make sure they’re in good working condition and are safe to use. These checks might be carried out by yourself or you might have an appointed person who carries out these duties.

What’s an EICR?

The results from your Fixed Wire Test will be recorded in an Electrical Condition Inspection Report (EICR) and provided to the person who organised the inspection. This legal document should record the results of your Fixed Wire Testing, detail any defects and potentially dangerous conditions, outline your point of action to rectify these findings, and make sure you’re complying with IET Wiring Regulations. It’s important to remember that your insurance could be invalid if you don’t have an in-date EICR.

How often do I need an EICR Certificate?

Standard practice is normally 5 years however, the frequency of your EICR will depend on several factors, such as the type of installation, its use and frequency of maintenance.
